KEYNOTES & WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS, LIBRARIANS, PARENTS & CAREGIVERS
Cathy & Marcy present musical keynotes and featured concerts for a variety of national, regional, state, and local organizations such as AEYC, Library, Music Therapy, Child Care conferences and in-service events. They are regular presenters at the National NAEYC conference and have done keynotes and workshops at the Delaware Valley AEYC, North Carolina AEYC, the American Music Therapy Association, Maryland Library Association, Southern California Kindergarten Association and the Minnesota AEYC.

Cathy & Marcy can tailor their keynote to suit your conference theme. Their repertoire of over 150 songs gives them great flexibility in hand-picking a program to meet your needs. Drawing on their vast experience as performers, songwriters and teachers, they weave stories into songs with commentary and humor that teachers and librarians easily relate to. Many conferences enjoy having a fun-filled evening concert that feels like a celebration at the end of a conference day. Cathy & Marcy would be happy to present workshops at your conference in addition to the keynote at no extra charge.

Their philosophy works towards empowering professionals to gain new skills and to use the skills they have with confidence and flexibility. Their keynotes honor teachers, parents, librarians and caregivers for their important role in shaping a child’s skills for the future.

WORKSHOP TITLES AND DESCRIPTIONS
All of Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer’s workshops are presented in a participatory and interactive style. They provide an outline for participants with lyrics and notes on resources and activities, making it easy for everyone to join in the singing, signing and other activities instead of taking notes. This of course leads to teachers being able to use some of the material as soon as they return to the classroom. It also leads to a fun workshop session!
Cathy & Marcy are happy to customize your choice of workshops for your conference theme and needs.

MUSIC IN THE CLASSROOM FOR THE NON-MUSICIAN
This workshop is an empowering experience for teachers who love music and would like to incorporate more music in their daily activities with children, but feel under-confident in their own musical skills. It gives teachers readily accessible ways of using music without being a maestro, and encourages them to develop musical skills they may not even know they have. They'll build confidence in their ability to effectively use music for storytelling, teaching curriculum and just plain fun!

Included are ideas on making and playing homemade instruments and creative ways to use recorded music. Cathy & Marcy also share their "tricks of the trade" that encourage full participation from an audience of children.

SONGS FOR HEALTHY & SAFE KIDS
Today’s children face an uphill battle when it comes to healthy eating and getting exercise. Cathy & Marcy offer a fun new musical repertoire with activities that promote good health - physical, mental and emotional. Repertoire will include songs on nutrition (Five a Day, Fruits and Vegetables, Breakfast Power), hygiene (hand washing), exercise, self-esteem, personal safety (stranger danger), creative conflict resolution and a healthy respect for others (celebrating diversity contributes to a child’s positive attitudes).

Cathy & Marcy’s CD, “Bon Appétit! Musical Food Fun” won the 2004 GRAMMY® Award as Best Musical Album for Children and was the result of research and work with children’s nutritionists from the World Bank and the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Their CD “Help Yourself” was called “required listening” by Marian Wright Edelman of the Children’s Defense Fund.

Hi Cathy and Marcy,
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed your two presentations, especially
after my kids had grown up on your music! I am currently teaching a
course on music in ECE and will be able to incorporate a lot of your work.
