CATHY FINK & MARCY MARXER'S SYMPHONY CONCERT
A Family Sing-A-Long Adventure Where Folk Meets Classical

Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer join the Symphony for a very special concert. The duo specializes in getting their audiences to join in the fun with singing, hand motions and even American Sign Language. Their instrumental virtuosity on the guitar, five-string banjo, hammered dulcimer and steel drums create a wonderful centerpiece for orchestration.

The scores and choice of material for this concert show the ultimate versatility of the Orchestra while appealing to a children's and family audience. “Hello, Hello, Hello” has a Latin rhythm and horn section, “Grandma Slid Down the Mountain” goes country and everyone yodels along, “Count to 10 and Try Again” features a jazzy sound with vibes or xylophone, “Whole Earth Anthem” is a Dixieland song, “Give a Little Love Away” and “When the Rain Comes Down” are both beautiful, lyrical ballads.

Cathy & Marcy's solo section of this Pops styled concert will draw from their GRAMMY® winning and nominated children’s recordings and may even include a rock and roll Air Guitar contest. While performing together with the Symphony, their audience rapport will encourage listening skills and education as the audience enjoys fully orchestrated arrangements of some of their most popular family songs.

There's no better way to a child's and parent's hearts than with great music, good humor and some sing-a-long fun. Together, Cathy & Marcy and the Orchestra can create musical magic that will be long remembered.

THE BLANKET & PILLOW CONCERT
This magical concert brings together Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer and the Symphony to treat even the youngest ears to a treasure trove of songs that families can enjoy together. The music will span the sounds of folk instruments such as the hammered dulcimer, five-string banjo, penny whistle and steel drums, presented with full orchestral arrangements, heart-warming vocals and sing-along fun. From the Celtic sounds of the "Rainbow's End" to the Jamaican folk tale that inspired "The Banana Wish Song", these songs explore the music of wishes, dreams and starry nights, even traveling to other countries for a song or two.

Imagine a beautiful outdoor evening and hundreds of little ones in their pajamas, sitting on blankets with parents and a picnic, enjoying the symphony before bedtime. Maybe the conductor even wears a night cap!

"Blanket Full of Dreams" (Rounder Records), by Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer, received a GRAMMY® nomination in 1997 for Best Recorded Music for Children. It also received awards from the Parents' Choice Foundation, American Library Association, Early Childhood News Director's Choice Award, National Association of Parenting Publications and the Washington Area Music Association.

"Pillow Full of Wishes", (Rounder Records), is the duo's second all original lullaby album. A collection of playful songs and lullabies that tickle the imagination and calm the heart, these new songs take us to exciting adventures and dreamy places, softly landing on a Pillow Full of Wishes. Parents' Choice Gold Award winner and GRAMMY® finalist.

“Pocket Full of Stardust” (Rounder Records) , completes the all original trilogy with another GRAMMY® nomination.
A parcel of lullabies this crafty and playful pops up so infrequently it practically commands us to take a stiff broom to our own sleepiness and listen along, wide-eyed
